Terms of service
Last updated 28 October 2026
The short version
- Vahel connects you with local shops that have quiet hours. The service itself is done by the shop.
- Nothing is charged when you book. You pay in the app after the visit.
- Cancel free until 3 hours before. A later cancel or a no-show costs €5, and €4 of it goes to the shop.
- If a shop cancels, you get €5 credit.
- Shops pay 12% of a booking, and only when the customer comes.
The summary helps you read the terms. The full text below is what applies.
1. Who we are
Vahel is run by [Company name] OÜ, registry code [registry code], [registered address], Tartu, Estonia ("we", "us"). You can reach us at [contact email].
These terms apply when you use the Vahel app or website, as a customer or as a shop. By creating an account you agree to them.
2. What Vahel does
Shops post free time ("quiet hours") with a discount. Customers keep a list of errands. We match the two and send the customer an offer. When the customer books, the agreement for the service (for example a tire change or a haircut) is made directly between the customer and the shop. We are not a party to that agreement and we do not perform the service.
We provide the app, the matching, the booking and the payment handling. We act as the shop's agent for collecting payment: when a customer pays us through the app, the customer's debt to the shop is settled.
3. Your account
- You need to be at least 18 to create an account. You can add other members of your household, including children, and you are responsible for the bookings you make for them.
- You sign in with a code sent to your email. Keep access to your email safe; anyone who can read it can sign in as you.
- Give correct details, such as names and car plate numbers, so the shop knows who and what to expect.
- You can delete your account at any time by writing to us. Bookings that are still open, and payments that are still due, are settled first.
4. For customers
Offers and booking
An offer shows the shop, the time, the service, the normal price and the quiet-hour price. Taking an offer is up to you; skipping one costs nothing. When you tap Book, the booking is confirmed and the time is held for you.
Prices and payment
- Prices are set by the shop and shown in euros, including VAT where the shop charges it.
- To book you need a payment card saved in the app. Nothing is charged when you book.
- After the visit the shop marks it done, and the price shown at booking is charged to your card. If the shop does extra work you agree to on the spot, the shop charges for that separately.
- Card payments are handled by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
Cancelling
- You can cancel free of charge until 3 hours before the booked time.
- If you cancel later, or don't come, we charge a fee of €5. €4 of it goes to the shop for the time it kept for you.
- If you don't show up three times within six months, we pause new offers for you for one month. Your list stays as it is.
- If the shop cancels your booking, you pay nothing and we give you €5 credit for a future booking.
Right of withdrawal
A booking is for a service on a specific date and time, so the 14-day right of withdrawal for distance contracts does not apply once the service has been fully performed at your request. Until 3 hours before the booked time you can always cancel for free, as described above.
Problems with a service
The shop is responsible for the quality of its work. If something is wrong, tell the shop first. If you can't sort it out, write to us within 14 days of the visit and we will help, which can include refunding the payment where the shop agrees or the service was clearly not provided. Your rights under Estonian consumer law are not limited by these terms.
Ratings
After a visit you can rate the shop. Ratings must be honest and about your own visit. We may remove ratings that are abusive, fake or not about the service.
5. For shops
- Joining. The person who signs up a shop confirms they may act for that business. The shop gives correct details about its services, prices, location and opening hours.
- Quiet hours. You decide when to post free time and at which discount (10, 20 or 30%). There are no minimums. A posted hour, once booked, must be honoured at the price shown to the customer.
- Fee. We charge 12% of the price the customer paid, only for visits that happen. No signup or monthly fee.
- Payouts. You connect a bank account through Stripe Connect and accept Stripe's terms for that. We collect the customer's payment, keep our fee and pay out the rest. Until your Stripe account is ready, your share stays with us, and we will tell you how it is paid out.
- No-shows. If a customer cancels late or doesn't come, you get €4 of the €5 fee.
- Cancelling. Cancel only when you have to, and as early as possible. Each shop cancellation costs us a €5 credit to the customer; if a shop cancels often, we may stop showing its quiet hours.
- Your business. You are responsible for your work, your staff, your licences and insurance, and for VAT and taxes on your income. Each payout and the fee kept from it are shown in your Stripe account.
- Customer data. You get a customer's first name and the details needed for the visit (such as a car plate). Use them only to provide the booked service, and don't use them for marketing unless the customer agrees.
- Leaving. You can stop at any time. Bookings already made are honoured or cancelled under these terms.
6. Fair use
Don't misuse Vahel: no false bookings, no attempts to get around payment, no scraping, and no attempts to access other people's accounts or data. We may suspend an account that breaks these terms, after telling you why where we can.
7. Our responsibility
We work to keep Vahel available and correct, but we can't promise it will always be free of interruptions or errors. We are responsible for our part: the app, the booking and the payment handling. We are not responsible for the service the shop provides. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for intent or gross negligence.
8. Changes
We may update these terms as Vahel grows. For changes that matter to you, we tell you by email at least 14 days before they apply. If you don't agree, you can close your account before then.
9. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by Estonian law. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the law of the country where you live. If we can't solve a complaint together, you can turn to the Consumer Disputes Committee of the Consumer Protection and Technical Regulatory Authority (ttja.ee) or to Tartu County Court.
